G-code Workshop

CNC Laser Pro FAQ

Short answers about using CNC Laser Pro - Engrave & Cut on Android with a GRBL laser engraver.

Can I run a laser engraver from my phone without a PC?

Yes, if the laser runs GRBL, FluidNC or Smoothieware. CNC Laser Pro creates the G-code on the phone and sends it to the laser over USB OTG, Bluetooth or WiFi. It also has jog control, work zero and a frame function, so the whole job can be set up and run from the phone.

Is there a LightBurn or LaserGRBL alternative for Android?

LightBurn runs on Windows and macOS, and LaserGRBL on Windows. Neither has an Android app. CNC Laser Pro is an Android app for the same kind of job on GRBL lasers, photo engraving, vector cutting and text, and it sends the G-code from the phone. It is a phone app, not a copy of a desktop program, so the features are not the same. See the comparison.

Is CNC Laser Pro a G-code sender for Android?

Yes. Besides creating G-code, it streams G-code to a GRBL laser over USB OTG, Bluetooth or WiFi, with jog control, work zero, frame and live machine state. It works as a GRBL controller app on the phone.

Does it work with Ortur lasers?

Yes. Ortur Laser Master and other Ortur GRBL models work with the app, like any GRBL laser. Connect with a USB OTG adapter and a data cable.

Which laser engravers does it work with?

GRBL-based lasers from Ortur, Atomstack, Sculpfun, Creality, Two Trees, Comgrow, Longer, Mecpow, Acmer, Eleksmaker and xTool D1, and machines with FluidNC or Smoothieware. Tested on Creality Falcon, Sculpfun C1, Acmer S1 and Mecpow X3. If your laser works with LaserGRBL, it uses GRBL. See supported machines.

How much does it cost?

The app is free to install with a 12-day trial of all features. After that a one-time in-app purchase unlocks it. There is no subscription and no ads. Google Play shows the price in your local currency.

Which files can I engrave or cut?

Photos from the phone or the camera, SVG and DXF drawings, and text with built-in or your own TTF/OTF fonts. The Designer combines all of them on one sheet as one job.

How do I find the right power and speed?

Use the material test grid. It burns squares with different power and speed values; pick the best one and save it as a preset. See the test method.

Which languages does the app support?

English, German, Hungarian, Spanish, Italian, French and Portuguese, including the built-in user guide.
